Welcome to my world of vibrant textiles! I’m Lucy, a textile artist based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where I now create fun and colorful rugs for the home. My journey into the world of art has been an exciting one. I was born in Vancouver, BC, Canada, to a creative and athletic family—my mother is an artist, and my father played football in the CFL. Growing up, I always had a passion for arts and crafts, especially anything that involved textiles. Sewing, crocheting, and experimenting with fabric have been lifelong interests of mine.
Before pursuing art full-time, I had an accomplished career in professional volleyball. After playing throughout high school, I received a full scholarship to the University of Houston, where I not only earned a Bachelor of Science in Consumer Science and Merchandising but was also named All-American in my senior year. I also played for the Canadian national team for many years and went on to play professional volleyball in Europe for 13 years, where I had the privilege of competing at the highest level.
At the end of my volleyball career, I discovered rug-making through social media, and it immediately sparked my creativity. Now, I channel my love for bright colors, animals, and all things joyful into creating pieces that liven up any space. Animals, in particular, hold a special place in my heart and are often featured in my work. Whether it’s a playful dog, a majestic cat, or a quirky bird, I love incorporating creatures that add personality and charm to my rugs. Each rug I make is an expression of my personality—bold, colorful, and full of life.
Each rug I create is a result of a thoughtful design process, from initial sketches to the final touches. I draw inspiration from the world around me, whether it’s vibrant colors, nature, or simply the joy of creating something that can transform a space. My mission is to create pieces that not only bring warmth and personality to a room but also bring a sense of joy and happiness into everyday life. I believe that the right colors and textures can brighten a space and uplift the people who inhabit it.
I truly believe that art has the power to connect people, and I love the idea of my rugs becoming a part of someone’s home—whether they’re adding color to a living room, brightening up a bedroom, or serving as a conversation starter. Every rug I make is a unique creation, and I hope it finds a place where it can be cherished.
